Billings, MT— Billings Clinic Foundation announces that the 2016 Classic will feature legendary rock band, America, on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Alberta Bair Theater. Proceeds from the 2016 Classic will benefit Billings Clinic Psychiatric Services.
Enjoying massive success early in their career, America earned their stripes as musical soldiers on the battlefield amidst the excess, craziness and chaos of the 70’s winning the Grammy® for Best New Artist in 1972. Their best-known tunes, which include "A Horse With No Name,” "I Need You," "Ventura Highway," "Don't Cross The River," "Tin Man," "Lonely People," and "Sister Golden Hair" were cornerstones of 1970’s Top 40 and FM rock radio. Their growth as singers, songwriters and musicians has continued into the present day as illustrated by landmark releases such as 2000’s Highway 3-disc box set, 2002’s Holiday Harmony, 2007's Here & Now, 2009’s Live In Concert: Wildwood Springs and 2011’s Back Pages. America has been a band capable of transcending borders with its uplifting music and positive message.
Billings Clinic Classic tickets range in price from $80-$160. The $160 ticket includes a pre-concert street party with heavy hors d’oeuvres and hosted refreshments, the America concert, and a post-concert party featuring the Midlife Chryslers. The $80 tickets include the concert and post-concert event.
Public sales for all tickets begin Tuesday, May 24 at 8:30 a.m. and can be purchased by calling (406) 657-4670 or visiting the Billings Clinic Foundation at 2917 10th Avenue North. The Classic is the major annual fundraising event for Billings Clinic. Other Classic events feature a Women’s Golf Tournament on Friday, August 19, a Golf Tournament at the Powder Horn on Thursday, August 25th and Open Golf Tournaments at the Briarwood Country Club and the Laurel Golf Club on Friday, August 26.
This year’s Classic is chaired by Amy Cebull, a long-time supporter of the event and co-owner of Nance Resources and will support Billings Clinic Psychiatric Services, including the building of a Psychiatric Stabilization Unit. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Montana has the No. 1 suicide rate in the nation. The entire state of Montana, with the exception of one county, is designated as a mental health professional shortage area.
Billings Clinic operates Montana’s largest non-governmental mental health care team with over 180 expert staff. The psychiatric hospital facility is the largest in the state for acute psychiatric care and provides the only acute inpatient care in the region for children with serious mental health conditions. Billings Clinic’s Behavioral Health Clinic is also the largest provider of outpatient psychiatric care in Montana.
“Despite this serious, sustained investment, we are able to address only a fraction of our region’s serious mental health needs,” said Dr. Eric Arzubi, Billings Clinic chair of psychiatry, “We are facing a mental health crisis and it is crucial that we work together and have resources to help patients get the treatment they need.”
Funds raised through the Classic will support the construction of a Psychiatric Stabilization Unit, which will provide an alternative to the Emergency Department for medically-stable patients experiencing mental health crisis. Funds will also go towards an endowment to sustain innovative programs to improve access and delivery of mental health care across the region.
