Billings Clinic and Broadwater Health Center finalize affiliation agreement
Townsend, MT— The Broadwater Health Center Board of Directors and Billings Clinic officially signed an affiliation agreement to partner together to provide essential health care services to the people of Townsend, MT and the surrounding community. Earlier this month, the Hospital District Board also voted in favor of the transaction for the hospital and ambulance service.
“Billings Clinic’s track record is to build committed partnerships that keep care local,” said Bill Upthegrove, Broadwater Health Center Board member. “Our organization is now uniquely positioned to care for our rural community, the families that live here, and our aging population with services we’ve never had here before.”
Broadwater Health employees will come under the umbrella of Billings Clinic as of January 1, 2020. Primary and specialty care providers from Billings Clinic are immediately starting to see patients in Townsend for outpatient and hospital care. Billings Clinic Bozeman is offering clinics at Broadwater Health Center for ob/gyn and pediatric services. Plans are in place to recruit permanent physicians and advanced practitioners to serve full-time at Broadwater Health Center, and nursing home services will continue.
“We are happy to see many of the strides that Broadwater Health Center has made over the last several years, and plan to continue that growth to provide quality, hometown care,” said Keith Cook Billings Clinic Board Member. “You can count on us to focus on what’s best for the people that Broadwater Health serves.”
Some ways that Billings Clinic affiliation improves patient care for critical access hospitals and rural clinics include stream-lined access to an integrated electronic medical record for better patient care and coordination, service development, strengthening of physician partnerships and outreach, educational opportunities, leadership development, process improvement, Biomed services, and recruitment.
Billings Clinic named Randy Anderson as the interim-CEO of Broadwater Health Center. Anderson has more than 25 years of experience leading hospitals and specializes in transitional leadership and development. The Board will have shared governance with representation from both Billings Clinic and the Townsend community.
Broadwater Health Center is the thirteenth Billings Clinic affiliate in Montana and Wyoming.
