About our Board-Certified Occupational Health Doctors
Hansjorg Schwertz, M.D., Ph.D, M.O.H.
Hansjorg Schwertz, M.D., Ph.D., M.O.H. attended the School of Medicine at the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany, where he received his medical degree and Ph.D. Following graduation, he started his German residency in Internal Medicine and Cardiology, and subsequently was awarded a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Utah, Human Molecular Biology and Genetics, in Salt Lake City. As a Research Faculty, he continued his basic science studies in platelet molecular biology.
He subsequently was trained in the Residency Program in Occupational Medicine at the University of Utah Medical School, in Salt Lake City, where he also received his Master Degree in Occupational Health. He is board certified in Occupational Medicine and is a certified Medical Review Officer. Additionally, he is a certified medical examiner with FMCSA, performing DOT exams. During the COVID pandemic, Hans worked as an attending physician in the University of Utah Work Wellness Clinic, serving the University Health employees in the Covid Command Center managing COVID testing, quarantine requirements and return to work policies. Hans is looking forward offering the full scope of Occupational Medicine Services to the Bozeman Community and beyond.
Devin Owens, DO, MOH
Devin Owens, D.O., M.O.H. attended medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa. Following medical school, he spent five years with the US Navy, completing a family medicine internship and subsequently pursuing specialized training in flight medicine to become a Navy Flight Surgeon. As a Flight Surgeon, Dr. Owens provided occupational medicine, preventive medicine, and primary care for active-duty military personnel, including pilots, aircrew and support staff. His military medical experiences spurred his passion for occupational medicine, and after completing his time with the Navy, Dr. Owens pursued and completed a residency in occupational medicine at the University of Utah. During this time, he also received a Master Degree in Occupational Health. He subsequently joined the University of Utah as faculty for two years before opting for a new adventure to help launch Occupational Medicine for Billings Clinic Bozeman.
Dr. Owens is board-certified in Occupational Medicine, is a designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) with the FAA, performing all classes of flight physicals and FAA employee/ATC exams. Additionally, he is a certified medical examiner with FMCSA, performing DOT exams.
