The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program staff consists of a team of professionals who help improve the quality of life for people affected by chronic lung diseases. The team gives you the knowledge you need to better manage your lung disease and to understand how stress, exercise, diet and medications affect your condition.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation team provides:
- Education
- Exercise training
- Respiratory therapy
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Other treatments to help improve one’s ability to cope with lung disease
The program is designed to help you:
- Become more independent
- Breathe easier
- Increase your ability to do your daily activities like housekeeping, driving, climbing stairs, and doing yard work
- Improve your ability to travel and enjoy hobbies and sports
- Enjoy social interaction with other people who have breathing problems and breathing successes
- Participate in the annual lung walk and barbeque
- Quit smoking for good
- Participate in an exercise program at home, at a gym or in the pulmonary rehab maintenance exercise program
